With active hydrofoils it would be more comfortable, prevent seasickness and make yachts go much faster/ longer. I'm back again after another 10 years. Every so often a bit of software comes out that makes me want to sketch boats again. It was Corel Xara back in the early 1990s/2000s then Imagine and Shape from Dassault in 2006-8 and recently I discovered Gravity Sketch. Its aimed at the conceptual stage and has all the basics for sketching lines and Sub D surfaces. Here is my initial attempt, excuse the lack of editing down to a more digestible size ....

For example, my former boat was a 31ft Larson Sport Cruiser, with twin stern drives, it was no deep V, so basically it had a very wet ride, but by just trimming the sterndrives up, the spray went more backwards, so I could create a pretty dry ride even on 4-6 ft seas....

simpson rule calculates under water volume 130.2 cubic ft = 6249 lb.
I divide the stations "S" of 2.25 ft by "3" to get .75 and multiply .75 X 130.2 cubic ft and arrive at 97.65 X the weight of sea water 64 equals 6249 lbs


Now the problem is if I plug in the numbesr for Cp I get .72 not good!

I suppose you can't fit multiple masts on a small boat anyway, but what about larger ones? Why are multiple mast designs so rare?

Is it aesthetics? Are they just considered ugly?
Is it complexity? Is a single mast easier to sail, especially with fewer crew?
Is a single mast lighter for the same area of sail?

I imagine for the same area of sail...

Not sure if this is the place to post, but anyways...
