I'm starting a new thread to cover the Repower of my 1994 54' Donzi (by Rosciolli) Sportfish. Today I formally placed the order for CAT C18 ACERT 1150 hp engines and ZF665A gears. These will replace the existing Detriot 12v92TTA's. In addition to the engines and gears I am also replacing the generators, propulsion controls, oil change system and likely other items as well that make sense while we are torn apart. I'm still making final decisions on some items and will post once I have info....
It reminded me of the article years ago about the 65 (think it was a 65) Donzi that rode out the hurricane.

I'm in currently in the process of buying a 1994 54' Donzi and wondering what info is out there. I see lots of posts about 65's but nothing on the 54's. The boat is on the west coast, in fabulous condition and I'll be taking to Alaska where it will be home ported in Ketchikan and used for salmon and halibut fishing and cruising the inside passage. My last boat there wasa Sea Ray 390 which I really liked...
This is a VERY nice 1989 model 1990 65' Donzi that belongs to one of my closest friends. He keeps it in tip top shape and is VERY beautiful. This is also my favorite year for Donzi because it has the exterior of the 1989's(my favorite exterior) and yet it has the incredible interior of the 1991's(my favorite interior).

Hi all,

I'm sure some of you know of that story of the 65' Donzi that survived Hurricane Darby back in 1992 at sea. 30 Straight hours of waves up to 30 ft or more, and the boat miraculously survived in the end, but lost afterward. All 7 aboard survived.

If you haven't heard of it, or want the story in more detail, you can check it out in the link I have below. Knowing Roscioli, I'm sure some of the details are exaggerated But most is true....
