Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2013 FLIBS

I hope this works as it's my first time uploading a photo. The dragon is beautifully carved and was due to have a repaint so should be looking fresh disco if you get a chance to have a look at her. On her interior she has a carving of an old fashioned oriental ship in the shape of a dragon, there's loads of mini oriental characters and allegedly it is carved out of one piece of wood. If you get a chance to go on board it's well worth a look!

Here are some boats with classic lines, some with blue and one with a white hull.

I almost always like blue hulls no matter the size of the yacht.

All four of these boats look mighty fine to me!!

If you are looking for truly vintage yachts at the show, Innisfail, the 90' Trumpy launched in 1939 has got to be at the top of your list!!!



It is hard to get a feel for the size of Toto.

She is a 110' vintage Palmer Johnson launched in 1983.

I would say from her exceptional good looks that '83 was a very good year!!



Brian, I think this might be the Grand Banks you are looking for n'est pas?



And from our nation's capital we have a 2009 San Juan 46 ready to take Flight!!





I do have to admit that I did see a beautiful blue hulled 100 footer that had a small dimple about 12" round that really took the wind out of her sails so I completely understand what a maintenance nightmare dark colored hulls create.

Like my black Audi Cabriolet, she looked fantastic right after she was washed, but then it only took a day or two before she looked like she needed to be washed again!

It worked just fine so please continue to post your photos!!

We have had many discussions about what makes the perfect expedition yacht http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/general-yachting-discussion/20483-what-defines-expedition-yacht.html so I was ecstatic when I came across one of my top picks at the show!

We have talked about Pacific Provider http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/yacht-escort-ships-shadows/6039-feature-ellsworth-156-pacific-provider.html http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/super-yachts-150-over/13562-pacific-provider-expedition-yacht-sale.html#post103164 there have been videos made of her 160' PACIFIC PROVIDER Expedition Vessel/Shadow Boat ????? - YouTube and she is currently for sale, charter, or long term lease.

But there is nothing quite like seeing her in person to comprehend her size, breadth, and immense capacity for expedition support equipment and tons of fun toys!





She has a 35' beam making lots of room for toys, toys, and more toys.

The four circular tank rims access two live bait wells that hold 5,000 gallons of water each. I don't think you will be running out of live bait on this baby any time soon!!

And don't miss the 20 rocket launchers just above the wells making hooking up easy.



When I asked the deckie about the trampoline that was inside of the floating swimming pool he said you can really get some air on this rig!!

Looks like fun to me!



I took this last shot across the dock from PP liking the symmetry of the stainless steel anchor and stainless bow protection plating.

As I was headed down the trawler dock I came across one of my personal favorites the Delta 54 IPS a design by Lars Modin from Sweden.

I love the clean form follows function lines that form the basis of Lars' work including the Delta 24 and 80.

The 54 would be perfection, the 80 would be heaven!!!

There was a fleet of Cruisers cruising down the ICW the Saturday before the show.

I had never seen so many Cruisers at the same time and place up until then.

And the Cruisers just came coming, and coming, and coming!









The review of the Cruisers has come to the end so to finish the frame I am popping in a Mangusta 92 cruiser that cruises at about 30 mph and looks like quite the speed demon at idle.

The unmistakable Mazu really has a pair on her!

There is something totally indescribable about how a big beautiful set of well designed and carefully crafted anchors set the tone of a yacht's design right from the get go!!



It wasn't until I got up close and personal with the side of this Cheoy Lee go fast Alpha Express 76 that I realized how interesting her hull window details look.



The latest Fairline 45 says nothing but classic style, style, style, and more style!!!



Who else could a yacht named with the initials J.W. belong to other than??????????

Judy!!! When are we going on that trip to the Bahamas?

Man oh man does Cheoy Lee have it together this year, their display is killer!!

From their 147' luxury expedition yacht Mazu who can traverse the oceans of the world on one engine consuming 30 to 40 percent less fuel than her twin engine counterparts.



Check out the serious hook on her fore deck and her radar arch with domes capable of communicating just about anywhere you happen to be on Mother Earth!

To their racy looking Alpha 87 Express that is expected to top out at around 30 knots!!



No matter how you look at her she is one heck of a beautiful baby!!

Ok, I just wanted to see if I could slip one in on you!!???

The interesting hull glass designs are not only found on Cheoy Lee; Sunseeker has their version we see here on their stealthy looking Predator 68.

The 170 Super Yacht is one of my favorite Palmer Johnson designs being kept just under the 500 GT mark with a manageable length and all the extras I love like a fore deck swimming pool that is actually big enough to swim in!

See how she gracefully and yet powerfully she moves through the water; she is obviously in her element!! Palmer Johnson



Palmer Johnson has done it again staying in the fore front of modern yacht design and the use of leading edge materials such as carbon fiber in their new Super Sport series.



Her wave deflecting and piercing bow are an interesting adaptation of an old Roman ship design that was successful in piercing not only waves but the hulls of their adversaries.



The stylish sweeping curvaceous lines of this PJ design have me totally captivated.



The wave piercing design is carried over to the sponsons that add extra beam and stability to the hull that some might say has morphed into a trimaran.



The first 48M copy is due for delivery in the spring of 2014 so I can hardly wait to see how she makes waves!!

A 165 Mangusta that lives behind a private home near the show. It's always in nice shape but I never seem to see any crew working on it.

Hi Brian, I hope you don't get too dizzy looking at these but to tell you the sad truth the majority of boats at the show seem to be of the more modern ilk rather than the classic and classy.

I will try to seek some of the more refined looking boats on Monday for you!!

But for those who appreciate the sleek, sexy, moderne hulls of today sit back and enjoy this ode to the sizzle!!

No one does sleek, sexy, and fast better than Marquis with their 42' Sport Bridge that can go 32.5 knots at WOT with dual IPS600s.



You will probably get a gentleman's argument from Azimut whose 40S claims a heady 35 knots as her top speed and who is no slouch in the looks department either!



And although Fairline's Targa 62 is a few feet longer and a little heavier than our first two yachts with her 2 MAN V8 1200 Shaft Diesels pumping out 1,200mhp each she is still the fastest so far at 38 knots and will have no problem turning heads as she slides into her slip.



The Princess V39 whose loa is 42' is our fastest contestant so far maxing out at 39 knots with Twin Volvo D6-330 DPs. With her sleek bright white hull she will have no problem attracting attention out on the water or dockside!!



Even from her sleek and shapely derriere you can sense that this Pershing 62 is going to be beautiful from all angles and will also be no slouch out of the starting gate! Pershing Web Site > Model > Video Gallery

Indeed equipped with two MTU 10V 2000 M93s generate 1524 mhp each giving her a top speed of 46.5 knots and a cruising speed of 42kn making her the fastest pilly in this stable!!!

As I was leaving the sport fishing yacht dock two caught my eye as standouts for one reason or another that I felt compelled to post.



Sorry I do not know any of the details about these two other than they are in their purest and simplest form beautiful yachts.



Again I have no details on this boat other than to say she is so simple and basic in form that she like the first two is simply beautiful!



This is a Windsor Craft 36 which calls to mind a nice day long river cruise with a leisurely gourmet picnic lunch while on the hook! Windsor Craft 36 Hardtop - YouTube



Fortunately everything you need to know about this curvacious beauty is all on the yacht someplace.

She is a 52' commuter yacht made by Van Der Heijden.

After a little investigation one finds she is made in Holland, is known as the Deluxe 1500, is made out of aluminum and tops out at about 35kn thanks to 2 x Caterpillar C9 -575 hp engines.
