If you ate dinner ashore all you'd need is your Leatherman and tools. Camp Lejeune gets especially interesting when they announce live fire exercises. Watch for those yellow lights flashing if inside, and if outside stay outside the buoys. Better still check the broadcasts before leaving the dock in Beaufort. I've had a few adventures there. One live fire, but I was in safe water. Once when a Navy ship there announce live fire small arms exercises off their port side as I was passing on their port side, and once where I guess it was a rocket club shooting off rockets that went in every possible direction. Good place to keep your eyes open and your ear on the radio.
There's some skinny water on the inside with that route for a 75, especially as you get down towards Carolina Beach.

The worst part of camp lejeune is the antique bridge, forgot the name, onslow? . Don’t know if it a been replaced in the last few years but One time southbound it had broken down and there were 100 boats back up waiting for a few Hours.

the best part is the anchorage basin just north of the new river... Mile Hammock Bay. Good spot for the night.

Was that the pontoon bridge with the old man operating it? If so it's been gone quite a few years now. I think the old man was its first operator (as a kid) and they kept it till he retired (or died).

No the toon bridge was further south. That was replaced by a 65’ fixed about 10 years ago. It used to be stuck at low tide

I was on pace to do 3 days at displacement from Ft Pierce to LIS. We had a 5 knot boost from the stream. Bertha stirred things up, so we spun into Beaufort and interrupted our "sprint".

I don't think I've done that stretch of the ditch in 20 years. But when I think of bridges, it's the Alligator swing bridge that comes to mind...not so much for the bridge itself, but rather for the channel's crazy ivan just north of the bridge that has been missed by many.

I've done that in fog. Definitely commands attention to detail. Great bridge keeper there. Really good about keeping the traffic flowing on both the road and waterway.

    Update
The buyer decided to have the boat trucked down if it was purchased.
All in one price of $14k including 2 chase cars.
Last week was the surveys and trials.
Oil lab work drawn previous week and available.
Deal fell apart on the oil labs results; 1800 hours, fuel, iron & copper in tall numbers.

The buyer is off shopping again for a nice fat express with no tower.

    Thank all for your thoughts.
