Spotted these on the web in a '65 Riviera 37 (AL) the other day. Looks like they are either super-, or turbo-charged. Anyone care to ID them?

Marinized Perkins block. Strange to me heat exchanger/exhaust manifold. Injector tubes Thur the head remind me of Fords but not quite.
    turbo.
    Kinda looks neat.
Need an official oldie guy to official ID this one.

On third (forth) thought, Don't think Perkins any more. An Italian (Perkins/ford copy) gizmo. I do like the oil filter on the same cooler assembly.
I can't make out the cast marque.

    Hi,

The tin valve covers and inj pipe routing point to Ford, they were used in many applications and often turbo charged. The ones I have worked on we're in D Series trucks and the turbos were mounted mid manifold , the engines were also mounted on a slant.

FWIW: Those little fuel filters would have originally been CAV 7111-296 elements. Sometimes I wonder why all these numbers seem to be burnt onto my internal Hdd.

The upside down filter thing could well be a SCA cartridge.

I was thinking that but the pass-thru for the fuel tubes looked different to me.
Still on my first cup of coffee,,, SCA??

That's why I was thinking Iveco, again based on the Ford.

    Hi,

Ralph, SCA is supplemental coolant additive. It is or at least used to be available in a spin on type filter arrangement for Cummins I think Detroit might have also had it or it was an aftermarket thing for them

These look an awful lot like the Sabre Ford Diesels I remember in an old CC down the dock from us years ago. They were about 300HP each, wound tight...

I think Seafarer has the correct answer. I Googled "Sabre Ford Diesel" and this photo popped up. Looks like it to me.

If those were aqua blue, they'd be just as I remember.

The typical HP on those was 212, but I remember the owner being so proud he had the top of the line, almost as much HP as our 8v-71 Detroits.

There also is one of the origional guys making brand new ones, and I think they've got the HP up to 260. They're also electronic diesels now. I ran a set a friend of mine put in a 44 or 48' Grand Banks headed to Norway. They looked like the bright red ones in the picture posted above......I think most of them are 220hp (new ones).

    Mystery solved

You guys really know your motors.
And upon reflection these were a pretty good, if not esoteric choice for the 37' Riviera shownbelow . The optional 6V53 GM diesels originally offered were good for 197hp.
    Riviera_37
Still, they need to be painted red, no?
    Defintely Fords (see photo/logo below)
    And the answer is:
Sabre 212C, 212 HP Diesel Engines
    5.9 L, Turbocharged Intercooled 6 cylinder diesel.
    212 HP @ 2500 RPM
Apparently used in ex-US Army Bridge Erection Vessels -"Cialis"? :p
    Cheers!
