    Are you using different browsers?
Also compare the file upload options in the user preferences of your accounts. "Use the Flash-based uploader to upload attachments"
  3. Same everything, except member login.

That's actually something Carl might want to look into after he gets some rest. We're all capable of thinking, but with some things why should we have to? The last time I resized a pic was when I joined YF, and I had to figure out how to go to the last page; Old Phart had to figure out how to post a pic. Some tweeking needed.
  5. Uploading a file is as easy as an attachment.

    Just need to adapt.

Copying a file is also easy.

P.S.- One needs to be diligent to maintain security.

Don't want someone between the folders doing their mischief.

Well, certainly wouldn't want you to have to think....lol

It's day one.....it will all work out

It's change...we'll all adapt....some changes we won't like, some we will love but we'll forget soon how they were an improvement...Biggest change though is more secure.

I often wish I had a switch that can be turned off. lol. Sometimes I'll approach my wife about something and she'll tell me 'Not now. I don't feel like thinking.' Meanwhile my eyes will pop open in the middle of the night with the solution to something. I'm so jealous. So things that occupy my mind, but don't force me to think are a welcome diversion.

Only three things ever really helped me get my mind completely off of the business of the day. Boating was one. I could get on the water and the wind in my face and suddenly the office was far away. The second was music. I could get music out, turn on background, sing, and the song was all I thought of. And third...well, the third thing works very well too.

Unfortunately boating IS my business, and the third tends to charge me up and keeps me thinking of all sorts of things. lol.

I haven't tried but it looks like it's giving me the option to reply to the little one post stub threads that lead the the reviews and features. It looks like I cannot reply to the actual reviews and features.

You wouldn't have been able to reply to those previously either.

I'm fairly certain I wasn't allowed to reply to either variety in the forum before. My assumption is/was that they accidentally came unlocked in the port over and that Carl would need to know in order to relock them.

That's correct. Reviews and features have never been open. One of the more unique coding aspects on YachtForums is we turned a standard forum into a magazine layout by removing postbits and such in the reviews, coded-up showcases in each builder's forum and generally, created a place where builders felt comfortable having their products presented and discussed in a public venue. Do you have ANY idea how hard it was for me to overcome fear and reservation in the early years, when the internet wasn't even recognized by this industry? Anyone can open a thread and talk about a boat, but there's no way YF would fly in the eyes of builders if the reviews were open to the peanut gallery that is the internet. All you have to do is look at the comments under any YouTube video, or almost any other website that allows comments on articles. It's a circus.

I will admit that I seldom give the review threads more than a cursory view, because they have very little relevence to my world or what I do. These yachts are generally close to one-offs. I'm sure they're of interest to those in the large yacht crowd, and probably give other builders some good ideas. So I'm certainly not saying they're not worthwhile. What I am saying though is that these reviews are available from several different sources. They may help direct certain customers to certain builders, but these are the type of people who are already in the market and probably already have a short list they're choosing from.

What I would love to see is YF reviewing some smaller boats, say from 70' all the way down to 35' or so. This could help influence buyers who really have no short-list or who are just thinking about getting into yachting. A large segment of the boating world has been lost in the last few years. We need to bring them back or replace them if true yachting is to continue. Most people don't start with 110 footers. They grow into them. I'm sure there are many here who would like the boating world to consist of nothing but super-yachts and work boats, but reality is that all a superyacht yard needs to be put out of business is one bad or unprofitable build such as the 90 that rolled over at launch or Cakewalk which signaled the closing of a yard instead of the expnding of it. If YF truly wants to take on a "magazine layout", I think expanding it's viewpoint (reviews) could be beneficial and bring a lot more readers/members to it, as well as buyers to the industry.
  17. Someone seems to be forgetting something very basic to this website.

While you admit to seldom reading the reviews, I read every one so people at all extremes. However, in regards to smaller boats, here are several recent reviews.

Are those the type boats you're referring to, Nycap? Or were you looking for something different?

Yep, a good start, but what about the manufacturers who sell to a wider clientelle like Viking, smaller Sunseekers, Fairline, even Sea Ray and Carver. For all intents and purposes we just lost Cabo, Post and Bertram. We need the people who aren't buying in the million dollars plus market. They're the base market that grows into the million dollar market. If we don't pay attention to them when they're 30 and struggling, they'll have no interest in the lifestyle when they're 50 and rich.
