I am looking for someone to do a pre purchase survey on a 68' Motor Yacht in the North Jersey area. I am also looking for a good Cat. tech to survey the engines and gens and do an oil sample.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Ron

For a boat that size and vintage, I’d definitely recommend having the hull and systems surveyed separately from the engines and generators. A surveyor who knows older motor yachts can catch things that a general inspection might miss. For the Cats, I’d look for a technician familiar with the specific engine models and have them check for leaks, cooling issues, service history and overall condition, along with oil samples. Hopefully someone local can recommend a surveyor and Cat specialist they’ve personally used.

Call Foley and ask who they recommend. I have no affiliation.

That sounds like a good place to start, especially if Foley has dealt with similar equipment or repairs before. Even if you’re not affiliated with them, they may be able to point you toward a local shop or technician who actually knows the system rather than having you chase random recommendations. A quick call could save a lot of time, and there’s no harm in asking who they would trust for the job. I’d probably give them a call first and see what names they come up with.
