Update on Perini Navi's 70-meter sailing yacht

Italian yacht manufacturer Perini Navi certainly are making great progress on one of their most significant builds at the moment. Construction on hull C.2227, the 70-meter sailing yacht is moving along. She was recently moved from Perini's facility in Turkey to La Spezia in Italy for fit out. She will be completed at the Picchiotti Shipyard in La Spezia.

C.2227 is the second largest sailing yacht that they are building, second to the 88-meter "Maltese Falcon". This 70-meter superyacht has been designed in-house by the Perini Navi team with help from Philippe Briand. On the interior, PH Design of the U.S were consulted to design in that regard. As expected her numbers are large. At 70-meters LOA she will have a displacement of around 912 tons and a gross tonnage of 850GT.

She will have to have far reach underneath the waterline to keep her stable and so a lifting keel stretches her draft from 4.54-meters to 11.70-meters. The sailing system for the first 70-meter will boast an innovative Perini Navi sail control system as usual. The mast will be done in carbon fiber. Expect delivery of C.2227 in 2015 for this special client.
