Here's a new pic for this thread...
Name the yacht next to Opus II:
45m built in 2006
I think she is for sale?
Alright, I'll try to jump-start the thread again.
Pic below. Boat in foreground shouldn't be too hard, kudos if you name the m/y behind the blue-hulled beauty in the foreground.
Let the naming begin...
GLEAM in the foreground? (SPY 102 later stretched)
It is the former gleam in the foreground. Post-refit she now goes by Avalon. Seen mostly cruising the northeast in the summer and Caribbean in the winter.
Any guesses on the boat in the background? She was recently sold and her owner moved up to an early hull # Westport 130. I also hear that she is "sweet" (if that helps anybody).
Take it away CaptPKilbride
Schminsky why don't you go again, I don't have anything to post for trivia
Almost looks like "AB 7" 105' built 1976/77 by Poole Chaffee.
Very close. Its the former "Azucar" (I think now called "Tortuga"). 1980 Poole Chaffee 95ft. Probably a close sistership to AB 7.
Go for it SeaEric
OK. This one should be easy. Who are the designer and the builder of this yacht?
Ted Hood and Little Harbour?
I remember when those Poole Chaffee's were considered the "big dogs" of their time... Sun Dream, Netanya IV, Thomson I ... now they are dwarfed by the megayachts of today
You've got half of it correct.
Ted Hood and Hatteras? I think there were 2 of these built?
Correct! Sources tell me 3 were built. You're up!
Once again I defer to anyone else who wants to post
Anyone know this old gal? Builder/year/name
Elco ? Mid to late '20s about 44' name unknown... remember as a boy riding on one in the Hudson River, had chain steering and chain throttle and clutch, coming into the dock was always a treat!.....
Nope, not an ELCO.
Aphrodite by Purdy Boatworks? My first guess was an ELCO too.
Aphrodite was in a Classic Boat article in the early 90's.
Sorry, Not a Purdy.
