I'm about to install a 1kw B260 transducer in my 42 Post. I've removed one of the two transducers that were existing. ...but I'm not sure if I love the location. The one I removed is aft of the port engine, inboard of the water intake. The other ducer is forward of the port engine. I'm wondering who's got what...so to speak. I've no issue filling the holes if one location is preferred over another.

    Thanks in advance....

In your best imagination, what location is getting the best passing of water. Nice clear water with no bubbles from the bow chopping it down.
Then, with a fair block, ensure it's pointing straight down with just a degree or two forward view. You may achieve this and more with bow rise while running but ensure it's not pointing aft at all when full of forward fuel trolling or idling.
I'm leaning towards your more forward location.

Mine has worked fine on the inboard side of the intake strainer. Mine is starboard, but doesn't matter.

This location is nice because running the wire up to the bridge is easier. You are very close to the wire chase in the rear corner of the salon.

Thank you...that's exactly what I was looking for...Appreciate the input, folks. I just wanted to see if that was the typical location...as there are 2 in my boat....and it made more sense to me. It'd seem it gets relatively clean water in that spot...I can't see it not picking up at cruise with the 1kw ducer.

Can't wait to get this puppy out doing what she was made to do. She's not been fished in over 35 years.
