Just found out that there wasn't a special topic about toys. Just found a movie about Mr. Kotaro Horiuchi's Hydrafoil- jetboat... Looks a bit like a mini submarine isn't it? The Amazing Boats of Kotaro Horiuchi
Yep, used to have 2 of those things on board, lasted a couple of charters. Eventually gave them to some dayworkers in Antigua as a tip. They lasted a week, sorry guys.
Horiuchi worked for Yamaha Motor Corp at one time. Not sure if he still does. I never met him, but I was supposed to accompany him as an expert witness after a lawsuit was brought against Yamaha involving a Waverunner accident. I knew he had been involved in hydrofoil development and looked forward to talking shop with him, but never had the chance. Yamaha settled out of court. His work is not far from my own...
Just wanna have fun without engine noise? Don't have large toy-storage? Maybe a Minicat is an option?
Well, I guess the subject of the video would qualify as a toy...so it gets dumped into this thread. A totally pointless video: a "Motorsports meets synchronized swimming" kinda thing...but you've got five minutes to blow, right? zoomzoom zoooom. http://video.kenblockracing.com/fla...d=204&media_id=9183&bgcolor=FFFFFF&autoplay=0
Rally drivers are pure insane. One of the biggest adrenaline rushes short of actually being in the car is being at the side with a crew filming "rally porn." Ken is a good guy to hoist a few with as well.
I work as many events as I can... schedule permitting. I think my best is 5 in one year. Starts are nice since you get a chance to talk to the drivers & co-drivers before counting them down, but finishes are hectic, especially when the driver's trying to make up just one last second in the final few hundred feet... I've had to expediently move myself out of the way once or twice. LOL
According to the Kelley Blue Book, Subaru is #4 in resale value ahead of Lexus. I suppose if the 'door-open' chime (in the vid) is ringing after that thrashing, they may be right.
My Super Cool Toy of Choice This would be my toy of choice: Triton Subs Photo Gallery I've always wanted to do this, but didn't join the Navy and USC turned me down for their Oceanography programs. So, I went elsewhere and ended up in business.
My son, who’s 18 and on Saturday dislocated his ankle and broke his leg in two places, thinks this would be the perfect land vehicle for any yacht and is on the top of his list for the must-have toys while yachting. The Go-ped Trail Ripper 46 all-terrain scooter They are: • light weight (less than 50 lbs) • relatively fast (around 30 mph) • take less space than a bicycle • have a folding handle bar for compact storage • have dealers world wide • are very fuel efficient • don't require a special license to drive • can easily be transported in a tender • can be riden in the sand and in the city • incredibly fun to ride • durable and very affordable Check out the video clib that BEYOND TOMORROW made about them found in the link above. For those that like a little more comfort, there is a model with a seat, the Riot. These are the You Tube videos he showed me while selling the idea. (Of course, this was before he broke is leg!) In water and around a park. Doing jumps on a dirt track.
Be Walter Mitty for 2:46 Toyz should make noyz: http://www.wimp.com/crazycar/ That's a BMW 3.0L-powered Norma M20 (hillclimber), BTW.
That's a amazing clip. I loved that we could see his hands on the wheel and heard his engine excellerate as he took those curves and straight-of-ways.
I don't recall anyone ever posting about the JetLev before. Not only would it be fun for your guests... but your crew would certainly find it useful when it comes time to wash the yacht. Wax on, hose off! VIDEO link.
