  1. New V8 Twin Sport Yacht Announced By Toyota
Yet another vehicle manufacturer throws its hat in the ring to make one-off sport type yachts. Toyota/Lexus is one of the latest subjects in this race and they have announced that they are a V8 Twin Sport Yacht that they are serious about getting built. Initially, the model will be around 12.7-meters or just about 42-feet but they suggest that it will eventually scale up to a 65-footer. This concept was actually around from the 2017 Miami Yacht Show but just as a concept even with Toyota still not having huge interest to build it but there is a revival and a definite push to build it now.
  2. How does a vehicle manufacturer build a yacht? They should be a fish-out-of-water right? Usually they partner with an established yacht builder who fits the parameters and scope for what they are trying to build. In this case, Toyota is using their Marine Division in cooperation with Marquis-Larson Boat Group. The design of the craft is by Lexus Design. The craft is expected to carry six to eight persons and has accommodation for many of them. The interior are described to be of 'Lexus leather' with glass and wood detailing. Construction of the yacht is anticipated to be in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP). In terms of performance, the yacht is expected to top 40-knots with two variants of Lexus V8 engines. Sales for the craft are planned in the second half of 2019 in the US.
