In the late 50's, Dick Bertram spotted a very fast little powerboat zipping around the America's Cup sailboats. He was amazed that it could go as fast as it did, in such rough water off Newport RI. He found the owner Ray Hunt, and asked if he could build him a boat like that, using Ray Hunt's new design called the Deep V. The boat was built and delivered. Bertram and Sam Griffith the great WW II hero, entered the boat in the new Miami to Nassau offshore powerboat race, and not only won, but broke the existing record. A new boat company was born and lives on today. More offshore history on www.historicraceboats.com
