Looks like a Riva Aquarama. I took some pictures of my wake, the one I posted above is 8 knots. The first below is 25 knots and the second is 35 knots. It looks like 25 knots is a smooth cruising speed...
"Mariette" completes refit The classic yacht "Mariette" recently emerged from refit and right after will participate in the Pendennis Cup 9th-11th of August, 2010. Mariette was built in the United States in 1915 and looks as good as new. This refit started around February.
I tend to agree with Lars but have to also note the appearance of poor seamanship leaving the stbd sternline loose on the back like that is a fouled prop waiting to happen.
Some time ago I was writing about the upcoming auction on the Warner Collection. Now the inventory is on line, many nice boats and a lot of engines as well. Just pick your choice: http://www.mecum.com/auctions/consignment_list.cfm?startRow=1&AUCTION_ID=MO1010&consignday=ALL
Thank you - I think - for that link. I just wasted an hour gazing at glorious Gar's. Gonna get a cup of coffee and waste another hour...
Hehe, I knew you would.. On my side it is already end of season for the woodies, today I took mine over to the winter storage...
I see Grand Harbour Marina Malta was graced by two classics this morning. Atlantide who has been with us for a couple of days now but is a regular and Fair Lady who spent just a few hours. Talitha has also been a recent visitor but photographs of her are too big to download on this site. Here are Atlantide and Fair Lady though Gerald Duke
Auction Carl, If there is something you would like for your "Personal" collection - let me know. I would be more than happy to submit a bid for you. I am heading out here on Thursday night for the Friday preview and the Saturday auction. There are a few boats that I will be bidding on as well as some for customers. I will take some pictures of the auction (If Dana permits me to) and upload them to YF.
Hi Aaron, I would love to have a woody, but I'm not in the position to buy anything right now. I'm two boats poor already! If you go, please take a camera and let the rest of us live vicariously through your bids. Thanks!
Auction Will do Carl. I have my eye on 6 boats currently. We will see what happens at the Auction. There will be a ton of "Woodchucks" I am sure.
Thanks Aaron, I've just drooled on my keyboard. Anyone got a tissue? Can you let us know how much the 2 Rolls-Royce Meteor V12s go for? Could be the makings of an interesting Flatsboat project.
I will be documenting the price of everything that sells. That data will be so valuable in my line of work. I will post a detailed assessment after the auction. I'm like a little kid in a candy store right now. The anticipation of this deal is causing me to lose sleep at night!
Just in case you are not sure what a V12 may be like in a wooden boat, check this one out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teVvL0NrEIg&feature=related
The Auction...... The auction was good. It was nice to see all of these boats in one place. There were a lot of boats that sold over market value and a ton that sold under market value. I was able to acquire most of what I went for. My purchases were: 1990 Hacker 25' Lockman Racer with Tri-Power Ford 427 Torpedo Stern 1948 Sudlow 14' Hydroplane with Ford/Offenhauser flathead V-8 engine (2) 1957 Chris Craft 18' Sea Skiff
