When I hauled out my newly bought 58 yf I was kinda supprised to see the position of the stabilizer fins , they almost looked vertical like a rudder , I would think the fins should be more horizontal , does anybody have a 53my or a 58yf with stabs that can tell me how theres is mounted ?

They are indeed almost vertical, like rudders. On my 53 they are mounted in the ERs, outboard of the engines, close to the front of the engines

They should have locking pins, make sure the line are out before trying them!!

Make sure the locking pins are out before activation.

Stabilizers don't know if they are vertical or horizontal. The effect is the same. They are counteracting roll, not flying.
