I will begin work on a 1932 Richardson 32' cruiser soon. As part of the planning, I need to know the correct specifications for the following wood:

White oak for use in the keel / stem
White oak used for framing (ribs)
    Cypress used for planking

I want to be sure I order the correct grade / cut for each. Can anyone suggest a resource for this information, and a supplier that routinely deals with boat lumber?

We are located in NH, USA. Thanks for your help.

I would suggest that you contact Jim Moores at Moores Marine in Riviera Beach, Fl. He is an expert on wood and wood boat repairs.

Thank you Eric. I will start there. If anyone is aware of another good source, in the Northeast perhaps, I would greatly appreciate any input.

Im sure the guys at the wooden boat school can help. They offer a lot of different courses that might be helpful to your restoration. Good luck

I had a good experience restoring a Huckins at Yachting Solutions in Camden. They are currently restoring a Trumpy, and should be able to give good advice.
