Not sure if this is the right forum to post to, but we are selling a boat and buying a newer one. Problem is the satellite tv is a downgrade.
The question is, will the old M1 KVH be obsolete in a few years compared to the KVH TV1 which we have now? Don’t want to be facing a few thousand dollar loss. Thanks so much.

It's HD vs whats already over your head. The last 101 beam has a short time left.
Technology will leave you with nothing within the next year or so.
So, your down grading if I read your post correctly. This will be a price concern for your new deal.

The KVH TV 1 is not HD!
I was told that it will work for some time. It is only a year old.
The older KVH M1 is 2009
I guess I need to ask KVH?

    Probably the best thought.

You are absolutely right, satellite will only be broadcasting an HD signal in about a year. So the system on the boat we might buy will be useless.
My captain (husband) called them, he’s bought 2 systems in the last year and a half, they might help us out a bit. Woman was very helpful.
Thanks again, you know your stuff!
