Replacing or not the fuel pre-filter units

    And there is the issue that many make IMO. When the cartridge is pulled, dirty fuel enters the clean side tube. Not much fuel but enough to possibly allow those microbes to transfer to the clean plumbing towards the secondary. For a high hour boat where your back to running again, probably not a problem buy the secondary just got an unnecessary hit..
    For the dock queens here in south Georgia, those microbes (and other nasties) just contaminated the lines to the engines secondary.
    Below is an example of a line blown between the primary and secondary on a Ford Leman.
    For 12 years the owner just popped in another Racor 10 when it clogged.

    That boat has a hell of a lot worse issues than that, with that much algae in it. If you start the motor after changing the racor (which you should), none of that would stay in any lines. I don't wait to change racors when there are chunks falling off of them......if they're almost black in color they get changed.
