I am down in the keys and I have been to 2 fuel docks and both of them had signs saying no fueling for PWCs. So I asked one employee why. She said that they were mostly rude people from Miami who come down here with PWCs and “tear up stuff” and don’t know boating. New to me that PWCs and their operators are so despised that marinas don’t want their business. Wonder if this is a Keys thing. Never seen these signs before.

Can't say I disagree. Plus they only buy 10 gallons at a time.

mamy marinas here in Miami seem to require PWC to fill up jugs and then fill up their tank. I be always thought it was some regulatory issue.

considering the behavior of the typical PWC operator, I can’t help but applaud marinas who don’t want to deal with them especially considering how little gas they take anyway.

Used to hear they were anti sail boat claiming they dropped off trash and purchased little, if any, fuel.

You can tell always tell a marina review is by a sailbot owner when most of the review describe the showers and public toilets… sometimes in graphic details. :)

    Are we awful folk??
Naw, We know what that pain is coming from our hip pocket,, our wallet biting our asp after supporting the marina and fuel dock and TIPPING.
The dumpster divers don't know of these things.

    So, back to the OP.
Has your question been answered yet?
I have more descriptive reasons why some floatsam is not allowed around better docks..

I am not from S Florida or Florida for that matter. There doesn’t seem to be the same strong feelings about PWCs in Wilmington, NC or the Chesapeake Bay. My guess is that PWCs low cost enables the masses to buy them and then you get the stupidity and rudeness. But what constitutes rudeness these days? Apparently it is rude to run a genny overnight at an anchorage. It never occurred to me that that would be rude until I read others complaints on active captain and such. I saw some video in Miami of a 3 PWCs harassing this guy in another small boat. Like the waterborn equivalent of a motorcycle gang. So I get it. No one wants to be around that.

Oh, It's on Active Captain (cruiser forum rejects) where the shower and bathroom revues are found.
    Hint??

You think I give a hoot about my gen-set running in an anchorage or what else those $^&(ng hypocrites can anonymously type?
If I'm down wind of those complaining, I smell their poo going over.
One of the reasons we don't hang around anybody or anchorages when we travel on the water.

Getting away is our reason for boating.
Getting aweigh from them all is the mission while boating.

So stay well, safe and warm in the keys.
Stay upwind when close to others and have fun.

    Well, Ah, Err,,,,
    I'm still sober.
I promised Carl I would try to be nicer also.

Think this weekend I'm going to find the last of the island rum David dropped on me.
Hopefully the OP will have a handle on this before then.

The same folks that complain about generators usually have wind generators scream all night in the gusts

That is a very good point about the wind generators and the lines of mast slapping. That was what I was getting at when I said what constitutes rudeness. Some get so worked up over excrement that doesn’t even occur to me. I don’t particularly care for the sandbar boats blasting music but I am not about to ***** about it. I just either except it or move to another place.

Na, that's why we have big asp speakers, we move them on the coach roof and play all 500w each,,,, of bag pipe music.
Ah, da pipes, puts me rite to sleep....

Again, we don't usually anchor around other boats,,,,, Or they have learned not to anchor around us.
Either way, I do get in some good ZZZZs.

Getting away is our reason for boating.
Getting aweigh from them all is the mission while boating.

But when the F wads do not take the hint, opera or pipe music, very loud, does take care of them...
We luv that stuff, puts us to sleep.
