Terrible... I am quite curious as to the sequence of problems that must have led to this terrible material loss. Thankfully the crew were rescued. Does 8 sound a bit low for safe manning of a vessel that size? Although they were quite close to shore so maybe thats why (iirc a 40m vessel has 6 minimum in open water)? (Not that it makes any difference to why it sank, just that the flag state will surely go to safe manning verifications first).

I'm curious to read this accident report if there ever is one... Its a pitty to lose a nice vessel like this. I hope everyone is well (given the circumstances) and that no one suffers unfair loss.

    Hi,

8 is too few to move and use it properly.

    The safe manning ain't much.

Captain and two licensed deck officers, 1 x Chief Eng, 1 x 2nd Eng will be about it.

There will most likely also be a couple of deck hands and a cook in the lot somewhere.

Just checked the CI guide, for them it would be 7, so i suppose manning was alright... obviously that wasnt the "crew" (i.e. full crew), they didnt have guests and probably were waiting or semi-waiting around... a great loss nonetheless..

I hope this isn't related to the pressure from...the "Yogi" incident.

It is not certain yet because all the investigations are kept private. It was passing from Turkey to Greece, had some technical problems in force 8 sea, then it sank, delivery crew was saved.
