Dealer demo's are the worst. Boat show to boat show on a thin shoe string budget,,,,,, then sold new. I have a customer dealing with this. All the option warranties had expired before he purchased his new boat,,,,,, expecting new boat warranty. ..
Two things I encourage. One is to get new boats surveyed and buy them subject to that survey. Second, check serial numbers on all major equipment to see the actual manufacturing dates. I know one major builder, no longer in the yacht business, that at one time put engines in a large yacht that were 4 years old at the time.
Yep His Magnum inverters were 3 years old on a 1 (1/2?) year old build. One failed and I called the rep. Both inverters were way older than the hull build. The main engine was past warranty on hours. The ACs failed past warranty. The next owner is getting a real new boat. Most options are under new warranty now.
The manufacturer should give warranty for a year. Regardless of age of equipment. I dealt with one boat where the refrigerator and freezer were 5 years older than the build and then engines were 3.5 years older than the build.
