Portofino 46 : Cats v Volvo

    The P46 was fitted with Cats and Volvo engines. Anyone with thoughts and/or knowledge about the pros and cons of each. Interested in maintenance costs, reliability, performance and fuel consumption. Thanks all, Tim

    I know little about the specific Portofino, so in general, my comment would be that parts and repairs for the Volvo's can be quite challenging. More so in being able to timely source parts when in need. This is the case in the USA and Caribbean, however I don't know if that is the same across the pond.

    IMO, it would be rare that someone would have troubles finding CAT parts.

    That's interesting, but it's really no problem here. More likely the other way round in fact. I have had 3 boats with Volvo's and spares or service have never been a problem.
