    An update from the AMEE-J

Greetings fellow Pequod folks, I had posted some time back about my "74" with the EZ2CY enclosure. Since that time I have finished a few more upgrades to include new stainless Port Lites to replace the plastic, the water tank upgrade to 2-30 gallon Vetus plastic tanks installed to the same location with a slight offset to port (this helped with the slight Stb list), I installed Parquet flooring in the salon insulating the individule panels with 3-M thinsulate at 3 layers (this reduced by 50% the eng/gen noise level over the orig carpet), and to Crown the salon off a pair of Imtra's Half-shade opera lamps to reflect the 15 coates of varnish on the wall panels.

I had been toying with the thought of replacing the orig Chryslers with a pair of diesels but since they still have just at about 1000 hours and run so efficiently I droped that Idea especially once I priced that option.

Now for the big news, I found another boat and now it is time to find a new home for my beloved AMEE-J (named after my children, Amee and Jason. I have cared for her since 93, spent close to 100K over the years but as the children have finished High School Its time for me to upgrade so I Fell in Love with a 1990 42' Jersey Dawn Sport Fish. I will never forget the fun that I have had with My Pequod and she will be a great buy for a New Captain. Looking at the current market value I understand that I will never regain my investment but hopefully someone who is willing to show her the same adoring love as I will make a reasonable offer, so if anyone reading this knows someone who might be interested drop me a line please to eberlecitgo at aol dot com. thank you

I recently bought a Pembroke 33, and lo and behold two slips over is a Peaquod 34. I talked with the guy, and he lives 3 doors down.

I realize this is an old post, are you still interested in the marque.

I should have included the quote in my last post so y'all would know what I am talking about. I now own the Pembroke 33 in this thread, It is so well documented I feel like the authortiy now :). One poster asked about Chevy 350s, and another poster remarked they repowered with 454s. My boat has been repowered with Crusaders, they appear to have gone in with minimal refitting. Is the Pembroke Website been updated lately. I emailed the guy and have not heard back...... I have info to share, and have some general questions.

Hello Rocky, And welcome to YachtForums. This is not a very active thread, but there are folks still interested. Stay tuned and someone will undoubtedly come out of the woodwork, so to speak. Good to see you here. Is the old "Gal" behaving herself for her new owner?

Thanks, good to be here. She is SWEET!! She is the 'talk of the dock', just like before.

Its all good. Delivery resuled in haul, right (oops I meant starboard) rudder block broke loose, the pumps kept up if I kept my hands off the wheel. Fortunately I viewed the DVD on two screw and got to practice manuvering using the sticks, plus I had an able crew so happy ending. That was my 'welcome to boating'. By the time it was repaired I winterized.

I am going through checking things out and replacing some outdated items.
    Cant wait for spring!!

    Prop size

I recently purchased a 1976 boat and wanted to know the correct prop size for a cruise of around 20 mph at 3-3200 rpm from the 318's

Currently, rumour has it, it cruises at 14....

    It all depends

In or outside the wake of a Chris Craft Roamer? :p
Still, a rare,well-built Pequod is quite the fine ride, eh?
When do we get our ride?? :) :)
    Cheers!

I'd like to say hello to all the members of this forum and this thread in particular. I found this thread while doing research on a boat that I'm considering buying, a 1979 Pequod 34. I found the boat for sale at a local marina purely by chance, as I was not even on the market for a powerboat since I already own a Regal Express Cruiser, but the Pequod's classic lines got my attention.

I'd like to give a special thanks to Jeff for keeping his Pequod website up even after he put his boat up for sale some 3 years ago. Like Jeff, I am primarily a sailor and have raced on several local and ocean races but I also like powerboats.

Since I never heard of Pequod before seeing this boat, I have no idea of the boat's reputation, availability of parts, etc. Do any of you know of any issues with this boat or any areas that I should inspect more closely? Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

What speed and RPM do you cruise? I have 225 hp engines as well. The prop specialist are not too knowledgeable about the boat and hull shape

There may be other issues; however, the only one I have found is that the flybridge used too thick of gelcoat that can cause cracking and crazeing.

Otherwise the boat is overbuilt, has great access to all areas of the boat, and has superior craftsmanship.

I have been in 4-6 ft seas and she just right through them without any fuss.

    Historical Details,...

.., cant vouch for the veracity of this report, but it might be interesting to Calypso owners:
    Made in New Hampshire.
"Story goes that the two partners running the company had a dispute about switching to fiberglass. One wanted to stay with wood. He began producing the Calypso (same as the 33 Pembroke) and dropped the other sizes. Other partner started producing the fiberglass Pequod. Similar appearance of lapstrake, but in fiberglass."
    Cheers!

I am the proud owner of "Shadocck B" a beautiful 33' Pequod. I have owned her for about 25 years and just finished a complete overhaul, top to bottom, inside and out :)
