    This is a story of a fish hook and a pelican;
    My client said I can remove it from his beak;
    The captain argued, "no way, the hell he can!"
    I’m very qualified as I’m a surgeon geek.
    So with penknife in hand,
    And with nary a word,
    With gestures so grand,
    He took the hook out of the bird!
    While this story is both fish and fowl,
    Hope this poem makes you howl!

    This happened on a sea trial on Friday. We saw the pelican foundering - wings flapping and obviously in-water distress. The hook was stuck in her beak and also tangled up in her leg. She was drowning. The pelican was great about being manhandled as the guys pulled her onto the swim platform. The buyer is a surgeon! I can't imagine how anyone else could have pulled this off so well. I wanted to yell "lucky duck" to the pelican but was afraid she might think I wasn't giving her proper respect. When the extraction was complete, she didn't want to leave! She stayed on the swim platform as we motored away, but it was finally the speed that compelled her to head to safer territory and off she went. It was a beautiful and happy day on Biscayne Bay - a happier day for the pelican.

    Nothing like being on a boat!!

    Now, if you could only do the same for the New Orleans Pelicans. They have a hook they can't get loose from a bloated Williamson, although it has been less painful since Dr. McCollum arrived on scene.

    Sorry, but when I saw your thread title, all I could think was a rescue for the NO Pelicans.

    Dr. McCollum? Are you referring to the ex Portland Trailblazer who had to manufacture shots behind Damian Lillard? I did not know he, like the pelican saving surgeon in this thread, was a doctor. See what I did there? We are still on topic:)

    Bones McCoy from StarTrek.
    I refer to that cast often as I travel a parallel universe in Aqua Space.

    If you have studied McCoy, He would of stated he was not a veterinarian (not a mason, not a welder, not a ....) but still fixed the issue.

    Still on topic??
    Luv Judy and I think she understands,,,, It's a wide winged topic..:D:D:D

    So far, he's been great and they've won a couple of games, now if they can just get something in return for Williamson.
