Ohno (Onan) raw waters pumps

    confused. 27.5 kw Ohno MKDBTs

    Onan has replaced the original design pump with a new version. Original had a cover that was placed on top of the impeller. New one has a conventional design with the impeller fitted in the body and a standard cover plate.

    The odd thing is that the inlet hose are smaller than the original by a 1/4”. The plumbing is no big deal... the problem is that the reduced inlet results in less flow and higher noise level. Great job Onan!!

    Has anyone dealt with that and found a pump with an adequate inlet size? Sitting on the aft deck you really hear the exhaust.

    And yes I am sure it is the pump design. One of the generator already already had the new pump and was louder. Just replaced the pump on the other one and noise level went up

    IDK. You could try Depco pump and they might have the old style.
