looking to purchase a 1986 with Cummins 555's low hours. any current owners here that can speak to the vessels blue water and cruising traits blogs or articles? cruising area would be San Fran to Sea of Cortez.
Talk with your local Cummins shops about the Triple Nickels. Service and parts availability could be an issue.
Had a trusted broker friend who was also an ex commercial fisherman deliver a 48 Offshore Sedan from Newport Beach to Alaska. Raved about its capabilities on the trip and ran into rough weathers, claimed it was the best ride he had in a yacht under 50. He was selling Bertram and Tiara at the time. I would personally trust his opinion above all others. The Sedan and Yachtfisher share the same hull, but this boat had the 375hp 3208 Cats. The triple nickel Cummins are not a favorite, but it will depend how they have been maintained. If budget allows, I would recommend a repower with Cummins remans to move away from the 555’s.
