The build out and integration of sub components starts with cutting the metal to shape, welding, grinding and then fitting doors or hardware to check for tolerance, fit and function. In this picture, the aft deck wetbar (shown earlier in it's primer stage), gives an example of what the entire boat looked like prior to priming.

Again, this picture was taken prior to priming, but it shows much of the metal work leading up to the priming stage. It also shows some remarkable engineering... because this is the port side tender garage. You might ask how the tender will clear the structural support to the left? It's hinged!

More examples of metal... molded by torch and hand. This will be one of the two staircases leading from the skylounge deck to the sundeck...

A close-up of a port side walkway gives an indication of the labor involved in marrying so many pieces of metal. This is just one small area. Do the math on the whole boat!

This is the port side of the pilothouse, with massive wiring on the right side of the picture that will feed the helm. In the coming months, we hope to bring you images of pilothouse during the build-out of the instrument panel and subsequent integration of electronics.

YachtForums would like to thank Oceanco's marketing director Michele Flandin for her continuing work in supplying photos of Y701's progress, as well as the many craftsmen and engineers at Oceanco who have made this journey possible. More images will follow in the coming months and we look forward with great enthusiasm. :)
