I have been through there many times, it is tight, skinny, and not surprising.

We go there with the 110 once in a while. Tight but well marked. Must have had a mechanical failure at high tide

I'm guessing it sucked bottom veered to the side and they didn't react fast enough. But just a speculation.

I believe that’s hull #1 of the 80. Is there much of a tide swing there?

Yeah, but there's less than 1' of tide in Key Largo, they must've had some good speed behind them in order to do that.

I took a Johnson 70 in there 20 years ago, slow and at high tide.
No dredging since then?

Nope. It s almost impossible to get dredging permits in sofl. It’s like Hawks Marina on duck key… even more shallow and they can’t dredge.

At Ocean reef There is a 7 to 8’ MLW hump about half way down the channel. It s tight but an easy in and out.

In the early to mid 90's I spent quite a bit of time there on a beamy 120'. Bit tight doing a rotation to back down to the inner basin T head the Boss had, lol.

our very first trip after taking over the lazzara 110 I run, was to Ocean reef, having just stepped up from an 84…. I was slightly concerned about turning it around in there till I remembered the bigger the boat, the easier it is.

Yes, it looks ugly (and expensive) but whether he was a newbie or not, I feel sorry for the guy. Maybe he is a brilliant surgeon or a savvy business man and just wanted to cruise in style after he retired, then made one wrong move and screwed up royally. Lets not rub it in. Poor guy..
