I meant, more in line with what had been commented above, that I salute them for selling a 120ft GRP vessel for more expensive than many other much larger vessels built of steel/alum (not even entering the yard in the discussion)... And this applies to their entire line... I'm not being "negative"... they obviously serve their customers extremely well, as many return, but it is beyond me how they were able to reach this position when I analyze the price vs product logically... Thats why I said kudos to them...
April 15, 2013 Nordhavn’s new 120-foot flagship one step closer to delivery... (Click here for accompanying pdf with details on the delivery plan.)
You may have to go to Vancouver Island to see that, the owner lives in that neck of the woods, I know him but will leave to others to identify.
Doing a quick estimate of the air draft from the drawings on Nordhavn's site, the 120 couldn't even visit you, it might not fit under the Cambie Bridge!
Just heard from the owner, him and his wife will be making the 26 day (estimated) trip to bring her home.....would not be wanting to pay the duty and taxes on that one..wow.. let's hope no "touching" with other objects on the way as happened with the last one...
What a fun job. Even the 86 looks immaculate. As I read it the navigation mask hydraulically lowers to allow it to fit in his boat house so it will probably get under cambie st. bridge however I doubt he has reason to do that.
Follow Delivery PAE has set up a dedicated set of pages if one wants to follow the delivery. They will update a blog, show live tracking with SPOT, post photos and videos. Has anyone found an AIS listing for her? If you google maps or google earth "No.420, Paitou Road, Haicang District Xiamen, Fujian, China" you will see South Coast Marine the yard that PAE uses to build several of the larger Nordhavns. You can see several yachts and molds in the yard. Perhaps one of them is the 120? I don't see any names on marinetraffic.com in the vicinity that sound like her. Maybe she has already left the yard although all of the recent photos of her have been in the waters around Xiamen Bridge?
The new Aurora has been busy with last minute preparations for her departure scheduled for tomorrow. If you want to follow her yourself on marinetraffic her MMSI is 316025203.
Let's hope we don't see a news flash "Canadian vessel arrested and detained in China for fishing illegally !!
