  1. 38.7-meter Sportfisher Leaves Yachting Developments Build Shed

Last month we witnessed the launch of a large 90-foot sportfishing yacht from Jarrett Bay BoatWorks called "Jaruco". If you think that build was large then you have to see this one on the other side of the globe, down under in New Zealand from Yachting Developments. This 38.7-meter is around 127-feet long and features design from Michael Peters Yacht Design (MPYD). This yacht was under construction as hull 1015 at the Kiwi yard.
  2. She appears to have a black or dark blue hull and white superstructure as her finished exterior paintwork. In early April, the yard joined the superstructure to the hull and since then fitout proceeded up to the point where we are now with the yacht leaving the shed in preparation for splashing. Yachting Developments said that delivery was supposed to have been from Q3 of 2017 but clearly the timeline has been pushed back. The interior of hull 1015 is a collaboration between the yard and the owner. Construction was in carbon for both the hull and superstructure. She is powered by a pair of MTU 3,140 horse power engines. The contract was signed back in 2015.
  3. Now that she is out of the shed in the open she represents the largest carbon sportfisher built to-date. The final name of this yacht is not known at present but in the photo below it suggests that a nameplate is covered up on the starboard side of the superstructure. The owner will have the benefit of experiencing the interior of a luxury megayacht that has the full performance and deep-sea fishing capabilities of a regular sportfisher, just on a much larger scale. We look forward to seeing this yacht on the water. The below shot is by Paul Miller.
