  1. 26-meter Van der Valk "Nicostasia" Delivered To Owner
The latest luxury yacht by Dutch builders Van der Valk has been delivered to her owner. Christened “Nicostasia”, the 26-meter aluminum build is now sailing the oceans with its owner. The stylish and very practical yacht is the work of Guido de Groot, designed inside and out. She is a raised pilot house design and represents the fourth hull in Van der Valk’s RPH semi-custom series. The overall design brief for Nicostasia was to create a cool-looking, smart-working family boat, thoroughly adapted to the clients’ wishes.
  2. With the boat being under 100-feet the layout had to be done smartly to execute on space utilization. The main deck is a good example of this where three distinct spaces appear as one large space thanks to the open-plan formulation. There is the main saloon, a dining area and the lobby area. The three areas meld into one with the absence of defining partitions that may be found on other builds in similar spaces. The décor as well is simple, minimal and modern. The principle timber is whitewashed Oak opposed to dark floors with light coloured furnishings and the odd splash of vibrant accent colours.
  3. Onboard, the accommodation is situated on the lower deck where a four cabin layout for owner and guests exist. The owner has the largest room as the master suite is full-beam spanning the 6.25-meter width of the hull. It comes with a large bed that is fully walk around and easy to navigate. A walk in closet also exists along with attached ensuite bathroom. A VIP, double and twin bunk style cabin are for the owners’ family. The décor in these rooms echo a light an airy feel using neutral tones and it is much more personalized further solidifying the boat as a family vessel and not one oriented for charter.
  4. "The interior is quite elegant and minimalistic, yet clearly very functional and robust," says Guido de Groot. "Nicostasia is a real family boat – the owners are delighted with her and spend lots of time on board." The 'formal' dining room area forward of the main saloon isn’t so formal. The table does double duty as a kitchenette prep space with one side lined with bar-styled chairs. The other side has a sink and cooktop.
  5. At 26-meters or 86-feet, space is at a premium and storage will always be an issue but the owner made sure cupboard storage space was installed almost everywhere. The saloon area showcases this perfectly. The multi-use nature of the furniture is good too and that helps keep clutter and reduce the bulkiness in different high-use areas around the boat.
  6. Nicostasia is a leisure boat for its owner and family. She can sprint up to 25-knots thanks to a pair of MTU marine diesels, MTU 10V 2000 M93s to be precise. A SeaKeeper 26 gyroscopic stabilizer system is onboard and will ensure comfortable times on anchorage. The flybridge will also be a good place to enjoy time underway or on anchor with several seating areas that can be partially shaded by a bimini. The captain has a secondary navigating station on the FLY with easy and direct access to the wheelhouse below. Nicostasia is all that the owner wanted and they are enjoying her to the maximum.
