Ocean Explorer 88; The Newest Model From Steeler Yachts

The Ocean Explorer 88 is the latest addition to Steeler Yacht's Ocean Explorer range of yachts. The yacht is 26.7-meters keeping the length easily under the 30-meter mark. The yacht's design essentially builds upon the Ocean Explorer 85 model by adding increased volume thanks to the extra length and beam overall. The tri-deck explorer yacht is to be built in steel for the hull and aluminium for the superstructure. In terms of design, that is a collaboration with Pim Dijksman.

As a reminder, the Ocean Explorer 85 has distinctive units delivered to their owners already, for example; "Aviso" -in her brilliant baby blue hull colouring and "Moss" in her Moss-green hull colour-. "The Ocean Explorer 88 is a major step in further strengthening our position in the Explorer market. The further development of this successful line, made possible by the acquisition of our new facility in Meppel, marks an important milestone for our shipyard and opens the market to adventure-seeking owners looking for a true go-anywhere yacht built for exploration," commented Steeler Yachts CEO Yorrith Joosten.

On the Ocean Explorer 88 the beam of the yacht expands to 7.5-meters compared to 6.9-meters on the 85 model. The yacht is also three to four-feet longer too. The onboard accommodation is split across a 4 cabin layout with the full-beam master suite on the forward main deck and the other three cabins on the lower deck. This includes a VIP-grade cabin and two other guest cabins.

The Ocean Explorer 88 is going to be built to RINA Pleasure Yacht classification. In terms of performance, that is going to be dictated by her pair of MAN S2676 diesels. Her effective and efficient range is expected to be an impressive 5,000 nautical miles which will permit her to sail to further destinations afield. Given that she will be a yacht with some explorer credentials, the aft upper deck is where her tender storage will be. Two tenders of 5 and 7-meters can be stored on this deck
