  1. Cannes Yachting Festival Debut For Silent 55
While the widely anticipated Silent 79 is expected to be completed in 2020, Silent Yachts has the Silent 55 making its world premiere at the ongoing Cannes Yachting Festival. Reliant mainly on solar power the Silent 55 is emissions free and does not have the fumes associated with the operation of the traditional motoryacht. With as many as 30 solar panels fixed to the upper surfaces of this yacht there is plenty of solar-generation surfaces.
  2. These yachts can be equipped with motors that match the intended missions. There is also the option of hybrid electric power, electric motors coupled with diesel engines. The Silent 55 uses what is called maximum power point tracking (MPPT) solar charge regulators and lithium batteries. These provide capacity to allow all-night cruising A 15-kVA inverter provides power for all household appliances. Michael Köhler, Silent-Yachts' CEO, said "what this represents to the yachtsman, among other features, is the ability to cruise for many hours at normal speed and throughout the entire day and evening at reduced speed. Silent-Yachts sets the standard for an entirely new dynamic in yachting: No fuel. No maintenance. Pure solar-powered luxury."
