News: Lurssen Launch 90M Project 1601

Project 1601 Launches At Lurssen

German custom superyacht manufacturer Lurssen launched another yacht. A few days ago we published the launch of their 145-meter Project Luminance but at the same time the yard was also preparing to launch the 90-meter Project 1601. That yacht launched the day after creating 2 launches for the yard in 2 days. The design of Project 1601 is also by the Monaco-based Espen Oeino while the interior is from the German-based Dölker & Voges Design. This 90-meter project is the replacement for the 71-meter "Skat" but likely won't be called Skat upon completion. "Norn" is the name being floated around at present.

While this new project shares similarities to her predecessor such as grey paint, lounge and window arrangements, pennant numbers, blue and white boot striping, elevated helipad aft, etc., she clearly has her own new personality. Perhaps the most distinctive feature about Project 1601 is her bow which is radically different from her predecessor. Her internal volume is estimated to be at 3,600 GT with a 14.7-meter beam. This displacement superyacht was made with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure with construction starting around 2018 and preliminarily launching in 2020. This is the first time we are seeing her since then. She will be completed in 2023 along with Project 'Luminance'. We also anticipate to see Project 'JAG' this year.
