  1. 54-meter Project 'Moon Sand' Gets Underway At Lurssen
Another new project starts life at the prestigious German shipyard Lurssen. This time it is not a gargantuan 100-meter plus yacht it is actually quite small for what we have come to note as is normal for the yard. The yard confirms it is a 53.90-meter superyacht with the project name 'Moon Sand' or project 13800. Yes Lurssen builds alot of large superyachts and it is easy to forget that they can build any custom yacht even if it is smaller than their usual large size pedigree.
  2. Peter Lürssen says: "While we are very grateful for the success of our large builds, it is essential not to forget that our core business must be between 50 to 80-meters. Although the preconception is that Lürssen only builds large yachts, we have delivered a considerable number of smaller vessels over the last 15 years, including 29 under 90-meter. Over the same period, we have delivered 15 yachts above 90-meters. As long as it is a bespoke yacht, Lürssen is the right shipyard. As a result of our enhanced activities in this size bracket we are today engaging with many clients."
  3. The design of the yacht is by Bannenberg and Rowell which is an interesting collaboration. Usually we see these guys execute on the interior of yachts -and in this case they are as well- but they have been given the mantle and the pen for the exterior of project Moon Sand. The yacht appears more as a luxury explorer with a long aft deck. One can't help but notice the pool on the aft main deck oriented across the beam of the yacht. This yacht is being built for an Asian client and is expected to be handed over in 2021. The name Moon Sand may sound familiar as Feadship built a smaller 33.5-meter yacht as well as a 44.20-meter with that name a few years ago. Below photo is of the 44-meter Feadship "Moon Sand".
