  1. First Johnson 70 Starts Construction
The shipyard in Taiwan of Johnson Yachts has started construction on the new Johnson 70 'entry-level superyacht' (as they term it). Released photos showcase the hull in an advanced stage. The images come after the yard released some details about the new J70 as well as a 115-foot project at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) in 2018.
  2. The first hull is featuring an interior by Design Unlimited with an exterior by Bill Dixon of Dixon Yacht Design. The master cabin rendering below gives you an idea as to the direction the interior designer is going in with this build. Typical full-beam master suite on the lower deck midships featuring large hull windows. Johnson suggests this model will be carrying either a three or four-cabin layout naturally with a double occupancy figure of six or eight guests respectively. Owners can have a master as well as a VIP onboard in the four cabin configuration leaving room for two twins.
  3. Performance wise the new yacht will be fitted with dual CAT C18 marine diesels each at 1,015 horsepower. The target speed is 25-knots when they take her for sea trials. Fuel storage onboard is for 3,482 LT along with just under 1,000 LT of fresh water. Other special features include a social area on the bow, provision for a fishing cockpit on the stern and davits for the main tender. Johnson Yachts have been building yachts at this LOA for a while but this one is being reimagined as an entry-level superyacht.
