News: Grand Soleil GS80 Under Construction

In Build: Grand Soleil GS80 Custom Sloop

A custom built 80-foot sloop is currently under construction by Italian company Grand Soleil. It is called the GS80 and is currently being built to naval architecture design by Ceccarelli Yacht Design. The construction is in carbon to ensure a light 30-tonne displacement. The yacht is in build at the yard in Fano, Italy and started off build last Summer and is expected to be completed by this Summer. Once completed, the GS80 will make her world debut later on at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

The exterior may be clean and minimal but the interior is expected to set her apart by giving a light-filled ambiance blending artificial and natural lighting. The interior is truly something special according to what the renderings suggest. The main salon is spacious offering the full beam of the boat. The side and center roof glazing pour natural light into the space and with beiges, whites and creams on offer, it is going to be quite a relaxing space. The guest accommodations follow a similar decor and color scheme. The corners and sides of the room are further defined and accentuated by the under-mounted LED lighting which gives a subtle warm feel with a touch of class. Guest accommodation onboard will be for eight in four cabins. Two doubles, a bunk-style cabin and the master suite are the cabins for guest and owner onboard. Two crew members can be slept in the aft of the hull.

Grand Soleil's GS80 will assume flagship status once completed and by a fair distance too. Their last flagship was a GS58 with lines by Nauta Design. The owner will take this yacht for a spin around a few race courses every now and then and enjoy the relaxing, luxury lifestyle onboard too. The sloop design will hold up around 365 square meters of sheet and a 12-tonne bulb will keep her in good stead while blue-water sailing. Keep your eyes out for this new yacht coming this Summer.
