  1. Steeler 61S; An Electric Explorer
Perhaps what is the world's first Electric explorer yacht, the Steeler 61S is making noise without making any! This yacht was launched at the end of 2021 and presently should be wrapping up her testing and sea trial phases. The yacht is called "Havgap" and just looking at her from the outside you would be sure she is the ordinary fossil-fuel burning boat. This builder manufactures their ocean-going long range vessels with steel hull construction despite their diminutive sizes. The performance models tend to be built from aluminium.
  2. The Steeler 61S is 18.60-meters long with a beam of 6-meters and its propulsion is electric. Batteries have become lighter and stronger with greater charging capacity and therefore quicker charging times. The costs of charging batteries are now also attractive, and even free of charge in some ports (in Norway for example)! Furthermore, an electromotor powered by a generator is considerably more efficient than a conventional diesel engine. Even during the charging period for the batteries therefore, the Attétude is more economical than a traditional diesel engine. The engine space of the STEELER 61S Attétude contains a state-of-the-art drive system, comprising a lithium-ion powered electromotor. The battery sets comprise 18 containers, each with 16 cells, sufficient for an action radius of 4 hours’ sailing. Out on the ocean waves, a diesel generator provides the power. The batteries are charged in two hours, so that the generator only needs to work two hours during a full 10-hour sailing day. The Attétude also features solar panels for a permanent and natural power supply.
  3. As for the design, the concept is by Steeler Yachts while the exterior and interior design is by Vripack. The interior is comfortable and has contemporary decor sure to appeal to a wide spectra. The yacht is believed to have a three cabin layout being able to sleep six with a twin and double on the lower deck and a forward double V-berth. Despite its appearance from the exterior the vessel is a tri-deck.
