  1. "Luna"; First Nordhavn N71 Launched
The first Nordhavn N71 has been launched. Nordhavn announced the launching yesterday (July 30th) and we know the first example of the new model is called "Luna". With the Nordhavn 71 comes a luxurious ocean crossing masterpiece, meant to be owner-operated. By the end of August, Luna will be shipped over to Seattle to commence the final steps towards delivery for the owners. Those owners are repeat clients of Nordhavn having operated at least three different previous Nordhavn models in the past 20 years.
  2. The N71 was conceived and designed by Nordhavn’s Chief of Design, Jeff Leishman, in early 2021, followed by mold construction and a steady progression of hull builds. ( Last week, the decks and hull of the #3 boat were joined.) And she represents the further development of the third generation Nordhavn designs, incorporating a subtle elegance of styling evolution based on her longer waterline and plumb bow. Beneath her skin, the N71 is packed with leading edge technology and includes features (such as a bulbous bow) based on 45 years experience creating and evolving Nordhavn models, as well as from owner feedback.
  3. The hull at the waterline measures 68.4-feet but overall the length of the vessel is closer to 71.10-feet (but 74-feet including the bow plank). Onboard, her beam measures a comfortable 22.5-feet with a weight of 227,000 lbs, carrying approximately 19,000 LT of fuel, her sea legs can be exercised. In fact, the owners, who have operated the N50, 57 and 68, and will be running Luna in the Pacific Northwest region as well as Alaska once she is completed.
  4. Looking at the physical aspects of this landmark Nordhavn yacht, Luna has a blue hull and this alone makes her standout from other Nordhavns. It is contrasted by the usual white superstructure. Another paint-related detail includes the fire motif painted on the bulbous bow of Luna. This appears to be a personal touch of the owners. With a draft of 6.4-feet, Luna will be able to access most places the owner wants to take her. Should they decide to explore the Bahamas in the future, then the shallow Bahamian waters are not out of the question for them.
