News: Dixon Yacht Design Unveils 71M 'Juno Jr'

Dixon Yacht Design has unveiled a new design for a dyna-rig sailing yacht called 'Juno Jr'. It is actually a more compact version of the design house's 106-meter Juno concept. This time they have shrunk it down to 70.6-meters hence the name Juno Jr. The yacht will have hybrid propulsion and be able to use a serial or parallel setup. This yacht design is part of Juno family which consists of a 33-meter this 71-meter and the large 106-meter Juno.

Juno Jr is an environmentally conscious design which aims to utilize solar, regenerative energy and of course its sails to reduce its environmental impact. It is envisioned to have a pair of Southern Spars dyna-rigs for ease of sail-handling and efficiency. Solar panels have been integrated into the super superstructure flybridge. The two propellers will also be acting as energy recovery turbines, similar to "Black Pearl" which generates electricity while the vessel is sailing.

Open decks with minimal sightline blockages exist across the three decks above the waterline offering exterior relaxation. Amenities envisaged for the Juno Jr include what looks to be a variable-depth pool on the aft main deck. Fold-down bulwarks are located on either side of the pool area to allow for unrestricted views while at anchor. A jacuzzi on the sun deck, two eight-meter guest tenders along with a 7-meter crew tender kept below the foredeck. The engine room is located towards midships as a result pushed the cabins up one deck. Four guest cabins are located on the main deck. A full-beam master suite is also located there. All the details relating to this latest Dixon Design have not been released.
