  1. Dunya Yachts Selected To Finish Expedition 54-meter Project 'Ulucitcan'
Project 'Ulucitcan' is an expedition project whose build story stretches across several years. She wasn't completed and laid unfinished for a few years. The 54.08-meter steel-hulled expedition yacht started construction at a yard in the United States about ten years ago where she was known as Project 'Chuggaboom' at the time. Of course as you figured the US builder ran into problems and could not complete the vessel. The unfinished yacht was sent to Europe by 2017 and could not attract suitable tenders to finish her.
  2. Turkish builder Dunya Yachts accepted the challenge to complete the vessel. Project Ulucitcan is now expected to be completed by 2023. The interior is by Andrew Winch and parts of that interior had already started to take shape when the build stopped. The 3516C powerplants by CAT are still onboard and the top speed has not yet been disclosed, but she is pegged to have a 6,000 nautical mile range. As many as seven (7) cabins are onboard for guests and owner use. This vessel is not short of space either with five decks to choose from and a healthy 11.5-meter beam she boasts internal volumes above 1,200 GT. This will challenge Dunya Yachts but it is not out of their reach because their last largest build at 72.5-meters "Axioma" ex. "Red Square" has an internal volume of approximately 1,625 GT. With the aft superstructure arrangement, a sizable foredeck was created as a result. This area will store her future tenders and toys. In past renderings this vessel was shown to have a helipad on the uppermost aft deck. It is unclear if this will still be fitted out. Hopefully by 2023 we have a completed vessel to end the long-winded journey the Russian owner has had with this build.
