Need wiring tips for replacement transformer.

    Ok guys I could use some help. The watermarked stopped working and the transformer was smoking. So I am flying in tomorrow with a new transformer and I hope that works. Otherwise we can buy water at a new $0.40 a gallon!!!!

    The existing transformer usese input and out labels of h1, h2, h3, h4 and output of x1 and x2. See pics. The new one is just voltage levels. I figure I got one shot at not frying something so I could use input.

    Old one is configured for 230vac primary.

    The two wires that are connected to the “H” or primary side of the old transformer get connected to the 0 and 230 terminals of the new transformer. The wires connected to x1 and x2 get connected to 0 and 115 on the new transformer. Polarity does not matter.

    Neutral is not needed for a control circuit. If it is, they just ground one side of the 115v side of the transformer.

    It would be good to know why the first one smoked in the first place .
    Are they fuses in the upper right hand corner ? any of them pop ?

    If you ground either side ,its not a isolation transformer anymore, further more if you have a meltdown again and the short is too ground all the chassis and frame grounds on the entire boat can become hot.

    I was not speculating as to weather one side was grounded or not. This application is not an isolation transformer. It is a control transformer that is stepping voltage from 230 to 115.
