Thank you Francois......glad you're back to normal . You should pay us a visit on the other side of Africa.....I'll give you a tour of the Red Sea. Tarek
Dear TK-F430, I believe congratulations are in order too. Think about affixing one of these (if you believe in this sort of thing of course) somewhere. Cheers, vivariva
the evel eye amulet Dear Tarek and Vivariva, I don't want to play the know it all, but as I've read it somewhere the evil eye amulet has originated from ancient Egypt and actually it is one of the great success stories of alchemy. The original was a stone named "lapis lazuli", which is widely used in ancient Egypt jewelry and amulets. The alchemist of the time ventured to create something similar and accidentally they found the way to make glass. The dark blue color attracts the evil eye and the glass breaks, saving the object or person who could be the target of the jealousy. Indeed, it is somehow a prejudice in our part of the world that people with blue eyes may harm more by their look.
You are correct Nilo. "Lapis" in Latin means "a stone" and "Lazuli" means "blue" or "sky" in Arabic. In ancient Egypt the Lapis Lazuli was Osiris's, the Sky God's gemstone. The Lapis Lazuli since then was used as a powerful charm to remove an evil spirit. In Turkey you call it the "Nazar Boncuk", the Little Magic Stone that protects one from the Evil Eye.
Thank you Tarek for the invite.May be one day the wife and I will pop over.I heard of fantastic diving in the Rea Sea. Francois
My Squadron is now on it's journey to Greece on board it's carrier, the Apollogracht. It was spotted yesterday in Gibraltar by Daniel (Gibdan) who provided the pictures below...........the third picture was taken today while the Apollogracht was unloading another Fairline Squadron 78 in Palma. My boat "Nazly" is still on board........
I bet you cant wait to test drive her.Nice pic of her on the deck.Nicely tied down and looks very safe. Francois
I think someone was asking in the 'Yachts in Gibraltar' thread whether Nazly had tunnels, I think that the last picture that the 'owner' posted - - confirms that she doesn't have tunnels.
We are in Greece now, at the port of Lavrion.......the journey to Egypt will start tomorrow. It should take us about three days. Some pics I took today......
you're some lucky guy hope you're having some fun on your. do you have some crew on your yacht or do you drive it on your own?
Congrats Tarek. Must be nice to see floating in warm blue water instead of cold brown water. I see on the stern Port of London. Is she flagged in England?
Thanks Lionel. Yeah......finally she's in the Med. ......took a long time. She's a British flag......registered in England, Port of London.
Thank you Jannick.......looking forward to enjoying her this summer. I am capable of skipping her on my own, but I also have a Captain and crew.
The voyage has started.......she left Greece this morning. [Edit: Please keep images no wider than 640 pixels.]
