Sorry Marmot, I mixed it up with one of those billionaires buildings around the Central Park in Manhattan. In regard to those prices in Manhattan, an appartement in Monaco seems to be a real bargain :).

I will be there. Many press appointments (press conferences etc.) but a bit time were not a big problem ;)

Milow, we will be taking the train from Nice to the show. Will be on the docks Friday and Saturday and back at night for some more photos. Taking pics at the Captain's award dinner Thursday night then checking out the casino.
Are there dockside cocktail parties at the end of each day? Plan to meet some new friends over cocktails.

I have not been to the Monaco show for 30 years now! I love the boats and the exhibits but it is just too much posing going on for my taste.

I could not go this year anyway as I just got back from the hospital with a heart attack... last friday... the stress would kill me!

However, I do have some suggestions. The traffic in the SOF and Monaco is horrific so do not drive. Where to stay is a challenge... I can stay at mom's house it I were to ever go but the stress would kill me there too... mom is getting very cantankerous! Take the train and get off in Cap d'Ail... its the last station before Monaco. Take the bus from there. There is a nice little hotel that is cheap for the area in the neighborhood up the street within walking distance from the Station... you will walk by my mom's house on the way... or take the bus! Hotel de Monaco... When you walk out of the station on the north side of the small parking lot walk up the stairs and follow Ave de la Gard until it tees into another street... 300m or so.. go left staying on de la Gard if you go the other way you will end up on the sea sea side (Raymond Gramaglia)... where Ave. de la Gard tees into the next street (Pierre Weck) is the Hotel de Monaco... its about 600m more from where you make the left turn... so it is a total of about one km from the station to the Hotel.
If you want to sea the sea or have a bite to eat when you leave the train station follow the street (de la Gard) until where it makes the u-turn up the hill. To the left is a passage that goes under the tracks... walk through there you will end up on Raymond Gramaglia... across the street towards Monaco is a nice little restaurant on the sea side... off the Bord du Sentair.

All this is about 3km from Monaco... or you can take the helicopter from the Nice Airport... and they will drop you off at the show!

    Sorry to read.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

    P.S.- Did not realize my post were so catastrophic;

or, was it one too many heel-to-toe enduring adventures? :D

Might you be able to gather a few pics of Project L3?

    Project L3

OP, here is a 3D view of L3 for you.

Actually not a bad looking design. Whatever principle it will use to stay afloat or going through the waves, its SWATH genes, IMHO will not work or at least not as expected from a SWATH. For a fast catamaran it has most likely to much resistance, for a real SWATH most likely not enough buoyancy and far to much hull area affected by the waves and not enough draft. A SWATH has to be designed for a certain wave height and that will dictate a certain draft of the buoyancy bodies. And the buoyancy bodies (torpedos) with its length are to close to each other. There will be an interference of the wave patterns with a uge amount of resitance at higher speeds. Maybe it will be something new, for example a semi displacement catamaran or a new type of wavepiercer !?. But the above water design is really nice. With catamaran hulls or wave piercer hulls, it will most likely make a great yacht but with this buoyancy bodies and length to width ratio, definitely not a SWATH.

As a full SWATH, she would need (with her length) a width of about 100 ft and a draft of about 20 to 23 feet and far less wave affected strut area.

I think boat shows are primarily entertainment events and place for those in the industry to network. However, the problem is selling boats as that was the original intent... or so I think that was. There are many individuals that can afford or interested in buying boats at any particular time. However any size of a boat is proportionally a large expense for the buyer... whether a buyer is looking a small or large boat.

At the smaller end of the scale it is more practical for manufacturer and more practical for a buyer to shop a boat show. The buyers tend to have more adaptable leisure time for attending too. Looking over the boats pretty well can happen and usually the boats are serious manufacture offered new and warranted. Like going to a car show to compare cars... very efficient. Also there is some anonymity which reduces pressures on the buyer so he or she can look things over without pressure of commitment.

At the larger end of the scale it is not so practical. One cannot look over a boat and really get anything other than a superficial impression. The broker situation and the sales pressure is also too high at the show. There are people around that are distracting and also many times those who the owner or potential buyer simply does not want hovering around. Generally the ladies (wives) in my experience do not like that kind of thing so won't go either... and the attention given them is either too much or too little attention for the ladies. And, hardly any significant decisions is made without the significant other being involved. Practically on larger boats potential customers do not have schedules that revolve around show times either. Simply the distractions, pressures and convenience are all against a buyer friendly experience. The idea that many potential boats are brought together is the only attraction. There is no anonymity for the buyer of a larger boat so he or she has less opportunity for serene contemplation... or plainly 'on ne choisit pas une maîtresse d'une mason putain'... not usually!

2014 Monaco Yacht Show; Tom Serio Photo

Tom Serio sent me a shot from his late-night Monaco dock-walk. Tom's night shots are always amazing, but even more impressive... I received this image at 8:30 PM EST, so it's 3:30 AM in Monaco, meaning our favorite photographer has put in a VERY long day, yet he didn't forget the rest of us who are seeing the show through his lens. I'll upload more upon receipt. Thanks Tom!

Another Tom-pic just arrived. In the race for bow supremacy, who can name the leader?

Natuzzi.... some hints. Early birds do get the best... maybe. My advice is don't drive... but if you must and arrive late go to one of the further out garages. Also, in that case I would go to the further garages on toward the east P8. Or, in desperation park in Nice or somewhere near the one of the train stations along the way and take train into Monaco it is a little walk from the train station. Sometimes you can get parking near the Helio port or around the Port of Cap d'Ail and do some walking. Oh, the authorities in Monaco/Monte Carlo are DRACONIAN (meaning Prince Vlad's minions of hell) on any traffic or parking matters so expect the MAXIMUM FINE if you do something wrong... but if you do run into problems act very dumb and be very very very polite and say its your first visit to the strange land of OZ.

Oh, I actually thought about going but have stayed in Paris is beautiful this time or year too... if it don't rain... and have other more important matters to attend to. Mom says it is perfect weather for the show... but there isn't any parking near her house either!
