Are those nav lights below the smaller domes?

For size comparision, how big is that center dome?

Depends on what you mean by "below the smaller domes?".

Which part are you referring to, as I believe both are there?

I would have to say nav lights.

I also just reallized I lost the part of my post that stated, "they appear to be nav lights or security cameras."

Sorry for the confusion. No idea on the size of the large dome, though I am sure someone will have some info.

No, the small black domes on the underside of the extensions are the security cameras. The two devices on the underside of the lower extentions are her searchlights they look like. Her white running lights are on the very top of the mast, you can see them just above thebig white ball.

On both sides - the first short side extension and the one above it on both sides - there are (4) black objects - (1) on each extension - what are they?

Those are Collision Regulation lights, or part of the navigation lights. To be used in cases such as vessel not under command, vessel aground, vessel with restricted ability to manoeuver, etc.

These close up shots have facilitated a very interesting discussion. I appreciate the questions and answers that have been inspired by the mast photograph. This seems a great way to learn about details. The photograph of the mast is excellent; It shows all the aforementioned lights and cameras clearly and the composition of the photo, with flag in background, is excellent.

To compare, here is the mast from the Trinty yacht Bacarella, complete with nav lights, comm antennas, radar and more.
Question: If you have a helo on deck are there other light configurations that need to be displayed? (Note to self - find mast on Evviva).

Here's the Westport-built Evviva's mast. Don't see any special lights for having a bird on deck. Maybe handheld lights for landing at night, like they use at the airports.

    Hi,

The yachts I have been on that were Helo equipped only had lights in the pad around the circumference. I only ever recall one movement in the dark and that was a take off not a landing.

There is a light that can be used for the pilot coming into land to see if he is high enough to get on the pad. From what I understand it is a bit like a traffic light red your out of alignment and green you are good to proceed.

As K!W! said, the normal thing you see is the low location lights embedded into the heli pad.

Here on the "SuRi" you can see this picture from our review of her...

Yes I believe this explanation is correct. I personally call them avoidance/danger lights-off course that isn't the official name-. Don't forget at night, one row of those lights on generally means the vessel is transfering dangerous stuff such as bunkering.

For the above explanation by CapLady, for bigger ships they carry more lights on the mast though. Not like smaller yachts that usually carry 2 red rows. The bigger yachts like "A" and "Al Mirqab" I see carry 3 rows much like cruiseships. The regulations must be a little different for them because of their size.

    Mine is :
    1. Zeus (mangusta 165)
    2. Madsummer (the very light blue of the hull is beautiful indeed)
    3. Carinthia VII (seen from the back, she is really impressive)
    4. Sai Ram
    5. Independance (sail)

It's nice to give a tribute to Madsummer. She deserves it !
Recently Yachts Magazine made a report about her (issue 128 September 2009).

Here is another shot of Madsummer and Ultima III, the yacht all the way on the right is a 130' Mangusta. Seems funny that a 130 footer looks like a little boat!
