I suppose putting the doors for the tender hanger at the sides would give the transom more freedom for fancy staircases, etc.?

the helicopter is registered in New Zealand. It is a Eurocopter EC135P2. New Zealand appears to have a thriving helicopter industry with also helicopters leased around the world.

google search revealed a news article from the website of Konsberg Marine which noted "Luerssen Mega Yacht. 28. Jan. 2004, Today Luerssen shipyard placed and order for Electronic Logbooks on their new building Mega Yacht "Rainbow"."

looks like it got pulled from their current list of news articles though :D

The electronic logbooks available are :

    Deck logbook
    Engine logbook
    Oil record book part I
Oil record book part II - available 3rd quarter 2005
    Port logbook
    Garbage logbook - available 3rd quarter 2005
    Dynamic positioning log
    Safety logbook - available 3rd quarter 2005
    Radio logbook

Obviously very useful to have everything electronic.

I just got back from the greek islands. It only got to Santorini a few days ago. Its very impressive to see sitting just off the cliffs. Note: the heli was in action all day every day.

    white thing in window

    Techmati,

I would guess that the white things in the windows are stacked exterior cushions that the crew hasn't put out yet for owner's arrival?

yeah probably cushions. we are being very nosy now :D they should have a proper area for their storage though. someone is being lazy.

Since she is just sitting at that quay for days now I agree she must be on stand by for the return of the owners. It is a great berth and is attracting interesting big yachts as visitors. They should build some more 120m berths!

perhaps she will leave next week and the next spotter can get closer so we can have some great pics.

Maybe they have to bring in the loose deckchairs from that sun deck before flying the chopper from the deck above?

    Guys,

Those aren't cushions.... they are filters. AIR uses a soot filtration system to clean the exhaust emitted by the generators. Remember, AIR uses eight (8) diesel electric generators to supply propulsion and onboard power. The new filters are bio-degradable and designed to be tossed overboard after use. This was one of the protocols of the build, to ensure clean "air".

(You're not REALLY buying this story, are you? :D )

AIR is back at Faliro Marina again. I guess she will remain on stand by all week again.

I have a good photo of her sitting just off the cliffs in Santorini around mid July but the size of the photo exceeds the 2MB limit. Sorry...
