  1. Luiz DeBasto Designs 40M Evolution

Blending the lines between a flybridge boat and an express cruiser, Luiz Debasto has hit on a new 'open' concept with the debut of a 40-meter yacht design at the 2016 Miami Boat Show. The Top Deck 40M is the ocean-going evolution of a radical party boat that made it's first appearance in 2014, the Top Deck 63' for Astondoa Yachts; a hybrid center console that transformed into a self-contained island. Mostly utilitarian in nature, it created serious envy with anyone under a t-top. The new 40-meter ups the ante for high rollers and not unlike the Triumph commercial from the 70's, may be the shape of things to come.
  2. Using the main features of the Top Deck line, the fold down bulwarks increase the deck surface and contact area with the water while the flybridge deck extends the entire length of the boat. The sweeping, split sheer line creates double the headroom on the aft deck. The owner's stateroom is placed aft, on the bridge deck to take advantage of this vertical volume. Verandas and balconies abound! With the bulwarks lowered, a total of 26 square meters of deck space is added, to be closed or opened at the touch of a button.
  3. The Top Deck 40m is aesthetically... different! Debasto states the design speaks to the owner, not the spectators. The upper part of the flybridge is covered by a hard top that offers protection for a kitchenette, dining area, conversation area and a whirlpool. All the exterior areas are connected by stairways, keeping the party flowing from stem to stern. In this render, the main salon floor-to-ceiling glass doors, as well as the master stateroom doors, slide forward and disappear into a pocket.
  4. The real beauty of this boat is not in the eye of the beholder, but in the eyes of the owner as the indoor/outdoor boundaries disappear and you become one with your surroundings.
  5. Forward on the main deck, Debasto maintains the cinematic experience with full 180 degree views from the bar/salon. This configuration might require a feasibility study, but if an NA signs off on this, expect this view to become standard equipment on any new boat buyers list.
