I like this one because it allows high speeds with the low superstructure. Ermis is making over 60kn now so with the right hull and other lightweight interior materials I see no reason this cat could not achieve 50kn with just two engines.
Looking, looking, shifting, changing. How about chopping 15' of each end of the try 160, keeping the 4 decks, blowing it out to 18m beam for better stability and putting an eye in the sky (16m x 5m).This would be approx 60 ft high. Electric ABB athimuths and a jet in each bow.
Lars. How about chopping 15 ft of the bow & stern of the try 160, keeping the 4 decks, blowing it out to 18m beam and putting an eye in the sky/bridge(16m x 5m). This would be approx 60 ft above waterline. ABB azimuths and a jet in each bow ( all electric drives driven by a series of smaller gensets). Do you think this would work?
Sorry, but I think she would look like a harbour tug and she will not perform at sea. As the main problem with a cat is the beam (in ports), why do you want to make her shorter?
This would be more of an explorer type. the only access to ports would be refuelling and maintenance. A delta 29sw or similar would handle the entry to ports for victualling etc. perhaps it will have to stay longer but I didn't want to go over 150ft, why? - the requirement for pilotage in most of the places we want to be was the main concern. Could you also tell me the Bmax of the hulls?
