OK, how are they breaking? Have you ever hit anything with them? Do you service them annually? Do you have a diver keeping the props, drives, and bottom clean every month?
A usual problem on the early units is the clutch. Did you change the clutch and have you fitted the upgraded 2012/13 released versions? The original clutch of the IPS was not designed for the pressure the joystick system puts on the shaft.
