No room to put a new fitting at the bottom of the tank. The holding tank is under the V-berth and room for plumbing and improvements is next to none. Tank has to come out, old plumbing yanked out, all new plumbing installed. Small boat, a 1979 CSY 33., not an easy job. (And nasty and smelly. How many charge double price for working on sanitary systems? I would)
Let the owner work on the system himself for a spell or have the toilets not work for any length of time and it's a lock you will get the go ahead to do it properly. Stupidity of the owner means Irish diplomacy is in order to educate them.
Black water work get at least a third hand (helper) charge+. When the owner is involved or directs with anything, disclaimers are signed.
What kind of boat is this? Let me guess... Sailboat with yellow water cans on deck? Trying to pull waste thru a 1" hose is just plain stupid, it s not about volume it s about solids getting stuck in the thinner bose especially if using salt water flush (Typing this sitting on... My sailboat but no cans on deck!)
see post Nr. 21: Nah, no yellow cans on deck. The boat is storage in Florida amd when the owner flies in to sail for 3 weeks once a year, time for maintenance is limited. One of my least favorite items on a boat
When you work on toilets of any kind no one offers to help, no one comes around to see how it's going or to check on you. One of the reasons I actually enjoy that work.
Well, ya know, it's in my name. In this area, Who ya gonna call??? We get calls at all hours. And we respond. I know Skippy J was doin a funny, Thought one hand at a time in da bilge was a good response (hopefully funny also).
Now, We all have to get ready for another New Years. Oh, peas, steaks & more rum of course. Need to go find some Florida Bison. We continue to pray for everybodys safe travels, family time and great beginning to a new year. Stay well all my friends and be careful out there. ,Ralph & Josie
